China , Inc.

Ted C. Fishman

A worthy addition to the China rising genre. Fishman proves himself an able, vigorous reporter. There are inevitably passages of the book that will remind one of any of a slew of recent books about China’s takeoff, particularly the sections that deal with Shanghai. He’s got interesting things to say about the looming US-China economic competition, particularly in the tech area. The 300-odd pages here are, moreover, a breeze to read.

  1. What’s he say about Shanghai? I’ve been thinking about buying this one (they don’t have it at the Shanghai library yet). Anything else in specific strike you as particularly new or insightful?
