Once I Had a Woman

Jimi Hendrix

From Jimi Blues — a sadly overlooked marvel. Here is Jimi in John Lee Hooker mode, complete with mournful harp and guitar work that drips with feeling and technique. The are moments when I can hear Ornette Coleman in a late guitar solo in this piece, and it forces you to wonder who Jimi was listening to at the time, and what might have happened had he did some jamming across genres.
