Africa 1960 Symposium – Smithsonian National Museum of African Art

I was a featured speaker at this event last week:
Scholars from the fields of art history, history, anthropology, economics, and journalism discuss the legacy of African Independence in recognition of the 17 African nations that received independence in 1960. Chika Okeke-Agulu (Princeton University) gives the keynote lecture entitled “Postcolonial dilemmas: African Independence and the politics of cultural autonomy.” Participants include: Howard French (Columbia University, School of Journalism), Todd Moss (Center for Global Development), Markus Goldstein (World Bank), and Gwendolyn Mikell (Georgetown). Discussion moderated by Nemata Blyden (George Washington University).
